About Us

TASHI DELEK!! Greetings in Tibetan.

We at the Wonders of Tibet are exiled Tibetans whose parents fled the 1959 chinese invasion, eventually settling in Nepal. At a early age our father became a merchant trader, trading in salt, wool and other indigenous items and products from the central and eastern regions of Tibet, the northern borders of India and Kalimpong, the primary trading post for most Tibetan traders. My father would travel the mountainous trade routes for many months with dozens of yaks, mules and horses saddled with the goods he traded along the way.

Having always dreamed of returning to the holy homeland of our forefathers, we had that opportunity in 1992 and our family again started trading in Tibetan and Nepalese merchandise. We previouly had sold exclusively to dealers throughout the United States and Europe, and our business was limited to wholesale acquisitions of Tibetan antiquities and artifacts for those dealers.

Now that more people are aware of Tibet and the many truly unique products Tibetans freely traded prior 1959, we moved part of our business to the United States so that we can offer others authentic Tibetan merchandise at very conservative prices, prices which we believe cannot be found elsewhere in the United States.

Keeping in mind the teachings of Buddha & His Holiness the Dalia Lama, we do not sell statues of Buddha or Thangkas. As Tibetan Buddhists, we cannot sell these items, so therefore none can be offfered for sale through us. Every day we pray to these representations and we must respect them. We buy and sell our merchandise in the old Tibetan tradition, dealing in antique furnishings, carpets ( old and new) artifacts, clothing, jewelery and others. Many of our articles are generations old, having traveled out of Tibet by varying methods.

If you have any questions of our products or any that you are interested in acquiring, please feel free to email us at wot@wondersoftibet.com or call us at 415-409 2994. We will be most pleased to help you. THUKCHI CHAY! (THANK YOU).
